The department was started with the motive of providing comprehensive services to patients seeking help for a variety of mental health problems and to impart psychiatric training to our Undergraduate medical students on how to balance between theory and clinical skills. Over the years, the Department has gone on to imparting psychiatric training to our Paramedical (Nursing) students also and operating Special clinics for Suicide prevention, De-addiction and Child guidance. A Community Mental Health Program has also been initiated to promote mental health in the surrounding areas. The department organises guest lectures, debates, quiz programs, poster presentations at regular intervals. Research activities involving faculty and students are actively encouraged. Also the faculty and students attend conferences and seminars to stay updated in this field. |
