Department of Biochemistry

The vision of the Department of Biochemistry is to inculcate scientific leadership in health care to achieve academic, research and clinical excellence on par with leading institutions.

The mission is to promote holistic, innovative teaching and to encourage a scientific collaborative environment to pursue active research. Clinicians are enlightened for a better diagnosis with the help of Clinical Biochemistry.

The main objectives are to impart students the scientific basis of the life processes at the molecular level and to orient them towards the application of the knowledge acquired in solving clinical problems. It helps the students analyze and interpret the biochemical parameters relevant to clinical screening and diagnosis. It helps to establish good laboratory practice and maintain the quality of the treatment. It enables enhancement of knowledge and skills for the empowerment of the faculty through continuous training programs.

Department of Biochemistry provides innovative teaching, learning strategies to the students through competent faculties and advanced teaching technologies. It imparts professionalism and ethical values to the students for quality health care services. The department ensures world class laboratory with good quality maintenance for the betterment of patients by smooth functioning of 24 hours clinical laboratory in the hospital. The laboratory takes part in External Quality Assurance Services.

The faculty have undergone training in Medical Education Technologies and Quality Management System and Internal Audit Training as per ISO and NABL.

The department handles under graduate (MBBS), Post graduate (MD) and PhD programs in Medical Biochemistry. The department organises guest lecture, vertical integrated teaching and enrichment course for the improvement of knowledge of students. Facilities are available with modern equipment required for Post Graduate and Doctoral programmes.

The department has spacious and well ventilated student laboratory with adequate capacity for students to perform practical with all safety measures. The department maintains a well facilitated library with all the required books for the students and faculty.
